Arctic photo mixes. Part 6

From the new one. Evening Bear

At the end of August, there was very little ice left off the coast of Wrangel Island, it degraded to small-sized ice floes that were unstable on the wave.

Such ice is inconvenient for hunting seals, and sleeping on it is a pleasure. Therefore, polar bears began to appear more and more often on the shore in search of food and a place to relax. Walking along the coastal marshy tundra and sleeping in holes dug in sand and pebbles did little to promote hygiene. The appearance of the bears was becoming less consistent with their species name every day.

The wool lost its original whiteness and became dirty. Even swimming in the sea didn’t help much. And a self-respecting bear will not waste time and precious energy swimming in the cold waters of the Long Strait once again. Moreover, food was in short supply on Wrangel Island last fall. It remained to wait for snowfalls and freezing of the sea.
And the bears were waiting…

Arctic photo mixes. Part 6

Walruses feel confident in the water. Not like on the shore and even on the ice, where they can be attacked by the primordial enemy – a polar bear.

So this walrus with a juvenile was so interested in the strange ice floe and extremely ugly walruses on it that she decided to get to know them better and swam close to the boat. The baby walrus sits on its mother’s back and feels absolutely safe. The main thing here is to assess the intentions of the beast in time and slap the paddle on the surface of the water or directly on the sensitive whiskers–vibrissae.

Before the walrus decides that there is enough room in the boat for everyone and tries to get into the company of the freaks, catching the side with her fangs. Having met such an unfriendly reception, the family abruptly dived and reappeared on the surface of the water already twenty meters from the boat.

From an old one. Bearish happiness

Arctic photo mixes. Part 6

It’s nice on a snowy slope
To roll like an arrow on the ass,
Spinning from back to tummy,
And just go tumbling!

We’ll scare the crow away with acceleration,
Of course, not out of malice at all.
Rolling down to a big snowdrift,
Let’s go straight into it!
